Yes, I know...its been a while. And what a lot has happened in the intervening period! As I look back on the year that has past, it has certainly been an eventful, challenging and certainly faith stretching year. I am most thankful that God has been ever present in my life this year, through so many different people and circumstances, especially in Elena's strength and support in the most difficult times. There were times when I felt that God was really stretching me, putting me through trial after trial, both at work and at home with my mum's condition, but thankfully, I found that in all circumstances, God's grace was always sufficient for me. Even Ps Srimal commented that it sometimes felt like I was like a rubber band, and God was seeing how much more I could stretch!
I count among the blessings I have experienced this year the Elites, for constantly praying for us and encouraging us, you have truly been our joy and privilege to have in our lives! For the YM leadership team as well, for your prayers and walking with me as well, as I struggled through the challenges, and for lightening my load in the ministry. For wonderful colleagues who in their own ways encouraged me with their support as i stepped into big shoes and muddled my way through an unfamiliar role. Most of all, for Elena for keeping me sane, for raising my spirits in my darkest moments, for staying patient with me in my frustrations, and for loving me through it all.
Who knows what 2009 holds, in the midst of financial turmoil, an economy sliding into recession, growing retrenchment and economic gloom and doom? But one thing I know is that God remains God of our jobs, our homes and our lives, and this year God has been so real to me in my struggles, and I know He will continue to watch over us. It is my prayer for all who read this that God's hand be upon you and your loved ones in 2009, in all that you do, so that we may continue to glorify His name that those around us may know that He is Lord of our lives and of the universe.
Blessed New Year, and I'm looking forward to watchnight tonight...
